Event Featuring Local Artist, Jason Zickler, Blends Art with Hospitality
INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – (October 25, 2010) - Conrad Indianapolis will host an art opening experience with Indianapolis-based Q7 and Editions Limited Gallery in Conrad’s newer ground level private event space. This event will coincide with the “First Friday” event, IDADA’s city-wide initiative to highlight art galleries, museums and now a luxury hotel. Conrad Indianapolis is the city’s first hotel to bring a growing art trend in hospitality alive.
WHAT: A public art gallery showcase; complimentary beer, wine and hors d’oeuvres will be provided
WHO: Art enthusiasts are invited to see local artist Jason Zickler’s latest work on display
WHERE: Conrad Indianapolis’ modern meeting and event space, The Alcove
WHEN: Friday, November 5, 2010; 7 pm – 9 pm
The Alcove is created out of Conrad Indianapolis’ passion to connect the local arts community with authentic Midwestern hospitality. The Alcove space rotates the art showcased on a quarterly basis; this particular show will feature works by Indianapolis-based artist Jason Zickler. Zickler’s style can be compared to that of Jackson Pollock and the abstract expressionists of the 1950’s. His work is collected everywhere from corporate collections to homes throughout the United States. Along with Indianapolis, his works have also been showcased in New York, Los Angeles, Miami, and throughout the Midwest.
His most recent works express complex internal emotions with bold color and texture. The vivid color and texture was inspired by the beauty of Loreto, Mexico where he had a studio from 2007 to 2010. He created the pieces while on their backs and then stood them on edge during different periods of the drying process to allow the paint to move on its own.
Aside from Zickler’s work, this event will showcase the philosophy of how art can be incorporated to enhance a hospitality experience. Editions Limited owner Chris Mallon and Q7 Creative Director GK Rowe worked as co-curators for the Conrad Indianapolis, creating a program for their event space, The Alcove.
“Conrad is excited to continue its relationship with the arts community,” said Greg Tinsley, General Manager of Conrad Indianapolis. “It gives us a chance to introduce the aspect of the arts to our newest meeting space while promoting the experience of The Alcove. Combining art with hospitality continues to make Conrad a true destination.”
