A Little Retro Magic: Meet “Vintage Vibes”

A Little Retro Magic: Meet My 48x60 “Vintage Vibes” Painting

Every once in a while, a painting comes along that feels like a tiny rebellion.

A joyful detour from the usual rhythm — and this 48-inch by 60-inch piece is exactly that.

It’s bold, it’s warm, it’s playful, and it’s carrying a secret: it’s wearing a vintage outfit.

From the moment I started laying down the first layers, this piece took on a personality of its own. It didn’t want to be a neon explosion. It didn’t want the loud, bright, Crayola-style palette that usually jumps out of my paint trays.

Instead, it quietly leaned into something softer… something nostalgic… something that feels like it was pulled straight from an old shoebox full of Polaroids.

The top begins with this soft, glowing yellow — like the sun just broke through a window on a sleepy Saturday morning. As your eyes drift downward, the palette slowly deepens. Those yellows slip into warm oranges, earthy moss tones, and rich greens that feel almost cinematic.

The whole thing reads like a gradient from daylight to dusk, full of little color surprises that pop in the most satisfying way.

And woven into all of it is my signature line work — those looping, layered, wandering pathways that give the painting its heartbeat. Here, against this retro palette, the lines feel almost like a soundtrack: swaying, drifting, soothing, and totally alive. They tie the whole story together.

What I love most is that this painting feels like it has an Instagram filter built directly into the paint itself. It’s got that classic, slightly faded warmth that makes everything look a little nostalgic and a little magical.

But unlike a filter, this one is textured, layered, and intentionally imperfect in all the ways that make original art unforgettable.

It gives off an energy that’s both familiar and fresh — like discovering a cool vintage record but playing it on brand-new speakers.

There’s something wonderfully unexpected about creating a piece that steps out of your normal lane. This one gently nudged me there, and honestly, I’m so glad it did. It’s a fun reminder that art can stretch, shift, surprise, and still feel like “me,” even when the palette comes from another era.

If you’re into artwork that feels like a memory — warm, cozy, nostalgic, and a little bit retro — this piece might win you over immediately.

It’s got personality. It’s got charm. And it has the kind of vibe that makes you want to walk up close, take a deep breath, and just get lost in all the layers.

Stay tuned… I have a feeling this vintage detour might show up again in the studio.
