The Idea Behind “Gratitude”

Gratitude has become a powerful theme in modern life. It shows up in morning routines, journals, podcasts, and conversations about mindset and growth. It’s often talked about as something simple. Something you can just choose.

But real gratitude is more complex than that.

It’s layered. It’s earned. It’s something that reveals itself over time.

This painting was created to reflect that deeper, more honest version of gratitude.

A Piece Built in Layers

“Gratitude” is constructed through multiple layers of epoxy resin and acrylic paint, each one adding depth, texture, and movement. Beneath the glossy surface, there are countless interactions between color, material, and motion.

Some areas feel controlled. Others feel unpredictable. That balance is intentional.

Because gratitude itself is not a single moment. It’s the result of many moments stacked together. Wins, challenges, setbacks, growth. All of it contributes to what we eventually recognize and appreciate.

A Journey Through Color

The color story moves vertically through the piece:

  • Deep reds at the top represent intensity, pressure, and the moments that demand the most from us

  • Oranges in the middle reflect transition, movement, and the process of working through those experiences

  • Bright yellows at the bottom bring warmth, clarity, and perspective

It’s a natural progression.

Not a fall, but a grounding.

Gratitude lives at the bottom of that journey. Not because everything is perfect, but because you’ve made it through.

Texture, Reflection, and Presence

The heavy resin layers create a highly textured, glass-like surface that shifts depending on how you view it. Light moves across the painting. Depth reveals itself slowly.

There’s also reflection.

You don’t just look at the painting. You see yourself in it.

That’s part of the intention. Gratitude is often about stepping back and recognizing what already exists in your life. The reflective surface reinforces that experience in a physical way.

Why Gratitude Matters

In a world that constantly pushes for more, gratitude creates a pause.

It doesn’t stop ambition. It doesn’t limit growth.

It simply allows you to recognize what’s already been built.

Gratitude” as a painting holds that tension. Between energy and calm. Chaos and clarity. Depth and simplicity.

It’s not about telling you to feel grateful.

It’s about giving you a space to discover it.
